this piece is based on a musical quote from Bon Iver's "8 (circle)." it takes the main melodic idea from the saxophone break in the middle of the song and builds a past and a future around it, so to speak. the goal of this was not only to transcribe the saxophone break as closely as possible but also to create a colorful atmosphere, with changing keys and weaving chordal structures. the piece was written for my roommate, the title referring to our room number. adorable, i know.
